EQUIPMENT TYPES AND COST

Stand Alone    Net Metering    Hybrid Systems

---

The price of solar panels depends on system size, component cost, and installation costs.  Solar panels typically have a 25-year warranty.

There are three major types of solar systems:

Stand alone systems

Net metering systems

Hybrid systems

Stand Alone Systems

Stand alone systems are not connected to a power grid. The system uses a battery to store power. All systems should use UL-listedpower equipment. The following table lists prices of stand alone systems from ThirdSun Solar. Contact ThirdSun or other providers for current pricing.

The Minimalist

150 watt system with 12 VDC output and 2.6kWh battery bank

$1,200 ($8.00/watt)

The Cottage

560 watt system with a 1.5kw inverter and 5.28 kWh battery bank

$4,750 ($8.48/watt)

The Evolution

1,200 watt system with 3.6 kw inverter and 21 kWh battery bank

$11,275 ($9.39/watt)

The Good Life

3,000 watt system with 4.5kw inverter and 32.6 kWh battery bank

$26,900 ($8.97/watt)

The Islander

6,000 watt system with 4.5kw inverter and 50.2 kWh battery bank

$47,500 ($7.92/watt)

Net Metering Systems

Net metering systems are connected to a power grid. The systems do not use a battery to store power. When the energy generated by the net metered system cannot meet the demand for your home, power can be purchased from the electric company. However, when the energy generated exceeds demand for your home, it can be sold back to the power company.

Because the net metering system is connected to the power grid, it is necessary to install an inverter so that the power output is the correct voltage and amperage for residential use. The following table lists prices of net metering systems from ThirdSun Solar. Contact ThirdSun or other providers for current pricing.

The Expander

300 watt array and 1,500 watt inverter

$3,800 ($12.67/watt)

The Seed

700 watt system

$5,500
($7.90/watt)

The Sustainer

1,200 watt system

$8,400
($7/watt)

The Producer

3,000 watt system

$18,500 ($6.17/watt)

The Maximizer

6,000 watt system

$35,700 ($5.95/watt)

Hybrid Systems

A hybrid systems are both connected to the power grid and have backup battery storage. As a result, they consists of three major components: 1) solar panels 2) power inverter 3) battery bank. The following table lists prices of hybrid systems from ThirdSun Solar. Contact ThirdSun or other providers for current pricing.

The Blackout Buster

1,200 watt system with 2kw inverter and 16.8kWh battery bank

$10,800 ($9/watt)

The Independent

6,000 watt system with 5.5kw inverter and 50.2kWh battery bank

$48,500 ($8.08/watt)
